Leicester 3 – Huddersfield 0
A run of four matches without defeat came to an end for Huddersfield on New Year’s Day at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester ran out 3-0 winners against the Terriers, although Huddersfield remained in 11th spot in the table.
Riyad Mahrez was the star of the show for the Foxes against the Terriers.
The Algerian winger volleyed Leicester ahead before he set up his international team mate Islam Slimani for the second.
Marc Albrighton sealed the win with a late third against David Wagner’s men.
‘Terence Kongolo Canalside’ sighting
Huddersfield are likely to bring in new players in the January transfer window as they look to stay in the Premier League.
While David Wagner’s team seem to be in a comfortable mid-table spot, they are only six points above the bottom three.
In that regard, Monaco defender Terence Kongolo is thought to be on the verge of joining on loan until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old Dutch international moved from Feyenoord to Monaco for 15 million euros last summer.
But Kongolo has been restricted to just six appearance for Monaco in the first half of the season.
Monaco clearly still rate Terence Kongolo as it’s also been reported there is no option to buy for Huddersfield in the loan deal.
This week Wagner has talked about signing Kongolo, saying:
I can confirm that we are approaching a deal.
We are charmed by him, we know him and now we are going to see what will happen in the transfer period, I can not answer very concretely, but we are close and hopefully we can pull the deal off.
Some Huddersfield fans are sharing a photo on social media claiming Terence Kongolo has already taken part in training at their Canalside training facilities.
