Newcastle & Fernando Torres
One of the rumours which has been doing the rounds amongst Newcastle fans in the international break are claims that Fernando Torres could join the Magpies.
Torres is well known to Premier League audiences following his spells at Liverpool and Chelsea.
Could El Nino now be on his way to St James’ Park?
The rumours seem couched in the great relationship Torres has with Rafa Benitez. While the likes of Alan Shearer have been bigging up the possible deal:
Rafa knows him, he knows Rafa, and if he is available then I think he’ll do a decent job at Newcastle.
I think that is one of the area which Newcastle are struggling with at this moment in time – is scoring goals.
Guillem Balague’s update
33-year-old Torres rarely starts these days for Atletico Madrid.
Indeed, Torres, who has 246 club career goals in 693 games, including 81 in 142 matches for Liverpool, has yet to find the back of the net this season in 10 appearances.
Could he be about to join Newcastle in January?
Spanish expert Guillem Balague has addressed the rumour on social media on Thursday, and sadly he’s claimed it’s all a load of nonsense.

Man United v Newcastle
Manchester United will be looking to make amends for their slender 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge the weekend prior to the international break.
The Red Devils lost ground on title rivals Manchester City, who opened up an eight-point gap at the top, making the emphasis on securing three points that much stronger.
Rafa Benitez’s side are also looking to put defeat behind them, as a 92nd-minute winner from Bournemouth’s Steve Cook condemned the Toon to a second consecutive loss.
The Magpies, who currently sit just a point outside of the top half, will know anything less than a defeat at Old Trafford will be a bonus.
