Gary Neville in hysterics at latest Jose Mourinho jibe after Man United 2 – Liverpool 1

Jose Mourinho vs Gary Neville continues after Man United 2 – Liverpool 1

Manchester United picked up a big win on Saturday lunchtime as they saw off Liverpool at Old Trafford.

A first half brace from Marcus Rashford secured the win for Manchester United, despite Eric Bailly scoring an own goal in the second half.

This was a fine start to a massive week for Manchester United, with home games to come against Sevilla (Champions League) and Brighton (FA Cup).

After the game, Jose Mourinho was chipper, as you might expect and had another go at Gary Neville.

Jose Mourinho vs Gary Neville round 1

On Friday, Jose Mourinho had taken a dig at Gary Neville in his pre-Liverpool press conference.

This came after Neville had slaughtered Manchester United for their first half display at Crystal Palace.

Mourinho said: “Some of the guys with an opinion couldn’t resolve their own problems when they were managers, so they are giving opinions like they have solutions for everything. It’s not like that, but they’re in a position where they can give opinions about everything. Sometimes I read and listen, sometimes I don’t.”

On Saturday, Gary Neville had pushed his opinion at half-time of the Manchester United win over Liverpool that Marcus Rashford should have been sent off.

Rashford was booked during the first-half, but also got away with jumping into the home crowd following his opener, kicking the ball away in frustration, and a dangerous-looking tackle over the course of the opening 45 minutes.

After the game, Mourinho said: “At half-time somebody told me that Gary Neville was asking for Marcus Rashford to get a red card and I was scared that the referee was watching at half-time and influenced by Gary.”
