Fears over Mesut Ozil before Arsenal vs Burnley

Arsenal vs Burnley

Arsenal are back in action on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners take on Burnley in what will be Arsene Wenger’s final match in charge of Arsenal at home.

But will there be a positive atmosphere at the game? Arsenal’s season ended away at Atletico Madrid on Thursday night, and the Burnley game is a formality.

Yes, fans will no doubt give Wenger a hearty goodbye. Yet they’ll no doubt be a section of supporters happy to see the manager leave the club this summer.

Mesut Ozil misses Arsenal training

Will Mesut Ozil be in the Arsenal squad for the Burnley game?

On Saturday it’s been reported that Ozil missed training.

That immediately set off alarm bells for some Arsenal fans, who have been less than impressed with Ozil since he penned his new 5-year, £350,000 a week deal.

Ozil has missed a series of matches this season with ‘illness’.

For supporters unhappy with his performances, questions have been asked about Ozil’s commitment to the club and the cause.

Santi Cazorla is back

In more positive Arsenal news, Santi Cazorla was back in Arsenal’s first team training on Saturday.

Cazorla, 33, is out of contract at the end of the season, following an injury plagued couple of years in north London.

The Spanish midfielder. has not featured for Arsenal since October of 2016, when he picked up an achilles injury in a Champions League clash with Ludogorets.

The original diagnosis of the Spaniard’s problem suggested that he would be ruled out for just 3 weeks.

However, this has since proved to be far from the case, with Cazorla having now joined the likes of former Arsenal stars Tomas Rosicky and Abou Diaby in missing lengthy periods with what had originally been deemed only a minor issue.
