St James' Park pre Newcastle 2 - Leicester 3

Everyone’s reaction to Henri Saivet’s Newcastle goal vs West Ham was the same

West Ham vs Newcastle

West Ham took on Newcastle at the London Stadoum on Saturday.

The Hammers have enjoyed an upturn in form since the arrival of David Moyes, capturing an impressive seven points in a run of four tricky fixtures.

Newcastle, on the other hand, have lost seven of their last eight, a run which has seen them drop into the bottom three.

With the Tyneside club in such poor form and West Ham continuing to climb the table, David Moyes’ side look to be the one set to take the spoils.

Marko Arnautovic opens

West Ham took the lead after just six minutes of the match.

A terrible attempt at a back pass from Henri Saivet allowed Marko Arnautovic to race through on goal.

Arnautovic, who has been in fine form for Moyes, found the target with ease for West Ham.

Henri Saivet equalises

But West Ham were only ahead for a few minutes before Newcastle drew level.

There was a surprise name in the Newcastle line up as Henri Saivet was selected by Rafa Benitez.

The 26-year-old Senegalese striker agreed a five-year deal at St James’ Park in January 2016, but many must have forgotten he’s still a Toon player.

Newcastle won a free-kick 30-yards from goal against the Irons.

Saivet surprisingly took the set-piece instead of Matt Ritchie, and the Newcastle forgotten man curled a stunner past Adrian into the net.
