Riyad Mahrez sees off Huddersfield!

Ever since Riyad Mahrez changed his hair to blonde, the Algerian playmaker has been in terrific form.

Mahrez – the Premier League player of the season in 2015/2016 – has been on fire under Claude Puel at Leicester.

And, Mahrez’s form continued on New Year’s Day at the King Power, as Leicester beat Huddersfield 2-0.

To say Mahrez was the star of the show would be an understatement.

After a goalless first half, Riyad Mahrez opened the scoring with a stunning goal – and the first real piece of quality in the Premier League game against Huddersfield.

From a long Christian Fuchs throw, Marc Albrighton hooked the ball in and Mahrez met it perfectly on the volley to smash the ball past Jonas Lossl.

Seven minutes later Mahrez set up the second for Leicester, scored by his Algerian international team mate Islam Slimani.

The Huddersfield back line was caught square, but Mahrez played the perfect ball through.

Mahrez was replaced with 13 minutes remaining after another sensational display for Leicester.

Claude Puel’s side made it 3-0 late on thanks to Marc Albrighton.

With the January transfer window opening on Monday, Mahrez’s heroics versus Huddersfield, and his recent performances have all been seen through one lens.
