With his status under more scrutiny than ever, Daniel Sturridge proved his worth tonight.
The striker was left on the bench for the entirety of the first leg at Villarreal last week, and it wasn’t clear whether Klopp would play him tonight.
But he did, and Sturridge repaid his faith with the crucial 2nd goal, to put one foot in the final, before Adam Lallana put the result beyond doubt by adding the third.
Sturridge has often been accused of being a bit blase about playing for Liverpool, and about football in general, but he showed how much the goal meant to him with a truly euphoric celebration, forgoing the funky dance routine for once.
But despite scoring such a huge goal, there wasn’t the love-in you would’ve expected for Sturridge; indeed, quite the opposite from many fans, who criticized him for his selfish play, in what was a very mixed performance from the striker.

That goal looks like it meant a lot for Sturridge. Great to see him show his passion for the club

Can Sturridge claim 2 assists for the 2 tap-ins he's missed from inside the 6 yard box tonight?

Apart from the goal Sturridge has been average second half I think. Was much better first half. Some poor decisions he's made.

Love Sturridge just shouting a lot. Strongly suspect that crappy goal dance has been holding him back

It's a myth that Sturridge doesn't work hard
