Crystal Palace & Christian Benteke
It’s not been the easiest few seasons for Belgian striker Christian Benteke at Crystal Palace.
Once a regular goalscorer for Aston Villa, Benteke now struggles to find the back of the net.
Last season Benteke only scored three league goals for Crystal Palace.
This season he’s yet to open his account for the Eagles.
Christian Benteke has knee surgery
Benteke has missed Crystal Palace’s last four matches due to injury.
This week the Eagles have confirmed that Benteke, 27, has had knee surgery in an effort to regain his fitness. As reported on the club’s website:
The club can confirm that Christian Benteke has undergone minor arthroscopic explorative surgery and washout of his knee, as it had not been settling with conservative management.
The surgeon was happy with the outcome and we expect Christian to return to training very soon. A further update will be given in a few weeks’ time.
That update would suggest that it may be some time before Benteke is back on the pitch.

After discussions with medical staff it was decided minor arthroscopy would be the best way to get me back on the pitch at 100%. All has gone well. Now to concentrate on getting back to full health as soon as possible! 🙏🏾 https://t.co/pgU2zs610b

Scary Crystal Palace stat
Crystal Palace are 14th in the Premier League after eight rounds of the new season. The Eagles have seven points on the board.
Last time out, Palace were beaten 1-0 at home by Wolves.
In a worrying stat for Palace fans, the Eagles have yet to score a goal in their four home matches this season.
