What about Chelsea & Liverpool? Fans defend Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho sent off v Southampton

It wasn’t the prettiest win, but Jose Mourinho and Man United won’t care.

The Red Devils maintained their title challenge on Saturday winning 1-0 away at Southampton.

Having dropped points away at Stoke, the win on at St Mary’s showed United’s steel this season.

The only goal of the game came via Romelu Lukaku, who scored at the second attempt following an Ashley Young cross.

Yet, the match ended badly for Mourinho.

The Special One was sent off in injury time by referee Craig Pawson.

While most claimed it was for a confrontation with the fourth official after Mourinho had encroached onto the pitch, the Man United boss claimed he was dumbfounded by the call after the game.

What about Chelsea & Liverpool?

Next weekend Man United face Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Mourinho is likely to have to watch the match against the Premier League’s basement dwellers from the stands.

He’s almost certain to get a ban for his dismissal at Southampton.

But is that fair? Man United fans have leapt to Mourinho’s defence, by turning attention onto Liverpool and Chelsea.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and Chelsea’s Antonio Conte are also accused of behaving badly towards the fourth official.

Neither Klopp nor Conte, however, have been handled like Mourinho was on Saturday.

Are the comparisons with the Liverpool and Chelsea gaffers spot on? Or are Man United fans being slightly cockeyed?
