Frank Lampard signs for BT Sport

England and Chelsea hero Frank Lampard is joining BT Sport as a football pundit the broadcaster have revealed.

Lampard, who is Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer with 211 goals, will join BT Sport’s team of expert football analysts for live Premier League, Emirates FA Cup, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League matches from the start of the season.

Frank is well qualified to give his expert opinion, having won each of the competitions as a player, including three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, one UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League in his 13 years with Chelsea.

“I’m delighted to be joining BT Sport”

Frank Lampard said: “I’m delighted to be joining BT Sport. I’m looking forward to an exciting new season both here and in Europe and can’t wait to begin working with the team.”

During his 20-year playing career, Lampard played at West Ham, Chelsea, Manchester City and New York City, scored a total of 300 goals in 1,010 professional matches. He scored his 211 goals for Chelsea in 649 games and also netted 29 times for his country in 106 appearances.

Frank will make his debut this weekend on BT Sport’s coverage of the FA Community Shield, when Premier League champions Chelsea face FA Cup winners Arsenal.

Steven Gerrard welcomes Lampard to BT Sport

Besides the fact that Frank Lampard has already proved himself to be a fine pundit, the announcement also means the Chelsea legend will work closely with Liverpool star Steven Gerrard.

During their time in the England squad together, it was often said that Gerrard and Lampard could not play together as a central midfield pairing.

Amusingly, Gerrard welcomed Lampard with a reference to their England days. And, fellow Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher also got involved.
