Newcastle v Bournemouth
Rafa Benitez’s best defender, Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles, was forced off the pitch early in the second half because of an injury.
Lascelles was replaced by Ciaran Clark.
The 23-year-old England centre-half picked up a knock to his knee in the first half.
While the injury wasn’t bad enough to force the Newcastle out the game in the first half, he lasted less than ten minutes after the restart.
Newcastle fans will be hoping the Lascelles injury isn’t too bad.
After the international break, Newcastle return to Premier League action with an away match at Man United.
How Newcastle fans reacted to Lascelles’ injury
As soon as Benitez was forced into replacing Lascelles, Newcastle fans posted reactions on social media.
It’s clear to see just how valuable the defender is at St James’ Park.
55' – Substitution for Newcastle United. Applause for captain Jamaal Lascelles, who can't continue, and on comes Ciaran Clark. #NUFC

SCOUT: Lascelles – owned by 13.3% – withdrawn following that first half knock. He misses out on 5 points if Newcastle keep the clean sheet pic.twitter.com/Qw0azEgIYH

Blow for #NUFC as Lascelles is forced off. He hasn't been right since the first half. Clark on to replace him. 0-0

Any chance you wanna take Lascelles off there, Rafa? He's running with the pace of Kevin Doyle in his prime.
