Bad for Man United: Thomas Lemar’s big Arsenal transfer hint

Thomas Lemar & Arsenal

Last Tuesday French daily L’Equipe reported that Arsenal and Liverpool are once again chasing Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.

Lemar was linked to both Premier League clubs in the summer, although he ultimately stayed put in Monaco.

Liverpool ended up sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for 35 million pounds from Arsenal late on in the summer window.

As for Arsenal, after failing to recruit Lemar they managed to hold onto Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. But those players remain out of contract at the end of the season, and it’s highly likely they’ll both walk out of Arsenal for free.

So far this season Lemar has played 15 matches for club and country this season, scoring just once and returning three assists.

That’s hardly incredible form from the 22-year-old Les Bleus international.

Nevertheless, as the January transfer window prepares to open, rumours surrounding Lemar are getting louder.

Lemar’s Instagram ‘like’

The Monaco star has fueled speculation he could be joining Arsenal in the past few days.

That’s after Lemar ‘liked’ an Instagram post linking him with the Gunners.

In a boost for Arsenal fans, Thomas Lemar liked a “welcome to Arsenal” post on the social network.

Is that conclusive of a deal to the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming window? Of course not, yet it’s still curious why Lemar would hit the ‘like’ button on such a captain.

It’s easy to understand why Gooners are getting exited.

Bad news for Man United

The Sunday Times also link Lemar to Man United on Sunday.

The broadsheet has noted that Lemar is a possible target for Jose Mourinho as he prepares to add a wide player at Old Trafford in the January window.

Whether Man United will spend the money needed to recruit Lemar, however, is debatable.

United are also rumoured to be chasing Bordeaux’s Brazilian forward Malcolm.

Arsenal 1 – Newcastle 0

Arsenal are fourth in the Premier League following a 1-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday.

Mesut Ozil scored the only goal of the game, and it was a goal worthy of winning any match.

Bringing back memories of Zinedine Zidane’s wonder goal in the Champions League final, Ozil volleyed a left-footed stunner into the roof of the Newcastle net.

As for Newcastle, they dropped into the bottom three with the defeat. The Magpies have now lost eight of their last nine matches.
