Mesut Ozil

Arsenal & Man United fans react to Mesut Ozil rumours

Mesut Ozil to Manchester United?

There is little doubt what the big transfer story is on the back pages of the English newspapers on Friday.

The Daily Mirror report that Mesut Ozil has told Arsenal team mates that he will join Manchester United.

This report comes from John Cross. Undoubtedly a journalist that divides opinion. But, also one that has very good sources at Arsenal.

Do Manchester United want Mesut Ozil?

Arsenal look powerless as it stands to keep Ozil.

Like Alexis Sanchez, the German playmaker is out of contract at the end of the season.

Last week, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted the Gunners could be forced to sell the two contract rebels in January.

Whilst there are suitors for Alexis Sanchez (Manchester City and PSG), there has been little interest in Ozil.

Is Mesut Ozil a risk for Manchester United?

Now, perhaps Jose Mourinho is keen on Mesut Ozil. After all, the Manchester United boss managed the German playmaker at Real Madrid.

And, Mourinho has talked glowingly about Ozil in the past. Plus this is a deal that Manchester United should be able to get done.

But, Ozil has not always set the Premier League alight and could be a risk for Manchester United, even without a transfer fee.

The latest rumours could simply be a pressure tactic from Mesut Ozil’s camp to flush either Manchester United’s interest, or another club, out into the open.

Only Inter Milan have shown a public interest in signing Ozil.

Do Arsenal want to keep Mesut Ozil?

Ozil came on and missed a guilt-edged chance at 1-0 in Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Watford last Saturday.

It is far from certain that Ozil will start for Arsenal at Everton on Sunday.

Ozil asked for £350,000-a-week to sign a new deal. Arsenal offered £275,000-a-week last season but do not now seem concerned about losing their German playmaker.
