Alexandre Lacazette offside goal v Stoke

Arsenal clearly robbed by Andre Marriner in Stoke loss

Stoke 1 – Arsenal 0

As soon as Stoke signed Jese Rodriguez on loan from PSG this week, there were plenty of Gooners fearing a goal from the Spaniard on debut.

And, so it proved to be as Jese endeared himself to Stoke fans with the winner against Arsenal on Saturday.

Substitute Sadio Berahino played Jese in for the match winner and the Bet365 Stadium was absolutely rocking throughout.

And especially late on in the second half as Stoke held onto their lead against one of the Premier League’s top six sides.

Was Alexandre Lacazette offside for Arsenal disallowed goal v Stoke?

One moment stood out in the second half for Arsenal – Alexandre Lacazette’s offside goal with 19 minutes remaining.

Referee Andre Marriner was at the whim of his linesmen, and the decision was immediate.

But, you know this will be a talking point for a full week now, since Arsenal don’t play against Liverpool until next Sunday.

Five minutes after coming on, Olivier Giroud fed Lacazette with a fine back heel.

The French striker thought he had scored his second goal in two Premier League games, with an emphatic finish.

Lee Dixon on commentary on NBC in the United States confirmed it was onside and the picture above confirms that.

Arsenal fans rage at Andre Marriner

Arsenal fans usually don’t need much to rage on social media and so it proved as they descended to defeat at Stoke.

Much of their ire was not aimed at Arsene Wenger or perennial scapegoats such as Aaron Ramsey of Olivier Giroud.

Most Arsenal fans could not believe they were on the losing side after this clearly onside Lacazette goal. See a selection of Tweets below.
