Southampton & Virgil Van Dijk
On Wednesday, Southampton tried their best to convince supporters that Virgil Van Dijk is staying.
Van Dijk has been tipped to leave St Mary’s for several months, while Liverpool have constantly been named as the most likely suitor for the Dutch centre-half.
Along with Liverpool, recent reports have linked Chelsea and Arsenal with a possible move for the 26-year-old defender.
But, according to Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger, Van Dijk is going nowhere. Krueger has issued a statement saying:
Virgil is not for sale in this window and it’s not personal.
It’s not about him, it’s about an overall much, much, much bigger picture – a change of course for Southampton.
Arsenal & Chelsea on alert
But at the same time Southampton were issuing that update, Van Dijk was spotted in London.
A picture was posted on Instagram on Wednesday by @philipuby, which revealed that Van Dijk was in the English capital.
The picture has since been deleted from social media, but not before screenshots were taken.
Could Van Dijk be on the verge of joining Arsenal or Chelsea?
