‘Marouane Fellaini to Liverpool’
There’s a ridiculous non-story doing the rounds on Monday morning.
Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is being linked with a move to Liverpool.
Let’s be clear: there’s no chance Liverpool sign Fellaini this summer.
Claims from the likes of the Sun that “Liverpool are reported to have drawn up a three-year contract for Marouane Fellaini” are nonsense.
For the record, no player has made the move between Manchester United and Liverpool since Phil Chisnall back in 1964.
Blame aimed at Marouane Fellaini’s agent
According to Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur, the source of the Liverpool story is obvious: it’s Fellaini’s agent.
Terreur, who writes for Het Laatste Nieuws, claims that while Monaco and PSG are indeed sniffing around Fellaini, the Liverpool story is completely bogus.
As Terreur quipped, “transfer business, agent business.”
An agent has offered Marouane Fellaini to Monaco. PSG have enquired. Then a French newspaper with no connection to the player, nor the club drops the news that Liverpool have offered him a contract. Club react that they have 0 interest. That’s transfer business. Agent business.

At the same time, journalists close to Liverpool have also been quick to rubbish the Fellaini story too.
More chance of Klopp signing you Paddy.

Man United’s free agent
What remains true is that Fellaini will be a free agent at the end of the season.
The midfielder’s Man United contract expires at the close of the campaign. He’ll then be off with Belgium to the World Cup.
Fellaini has offered no suggestion that he’s willing to agree a contract extension at Old Trafford.
