Arsenal reach the Europa League semi-finals
Arsenal gave their fans a scare on Thursday night, but in the end the Gunners secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Europa League.
With a 4-1 win from the first leg at The Emirates, there were warning signs in the Champions League this week that Arsenal had to be careful.
Nevertheless, a poor performance from the Gunners allowed CSKA Moscow to secure a 2-0 lead by the 50th minute thanks to goals from Fedor Chalov and Kirill Nababkin.
Arsenal weren’t safe until the 75th minute, when Danny Welbeck claimed a fine individual goal to settle any nerves.
Aaron Ramsey secured a draw on the night for Arsenal with a late goal. The impressive Mohamed Elneny claimed two assists.
Aarom Ramsey is loving the Europa League this season!
The goal for Ramsey in Moscow means the Welsh midfielder bagged three of Arsenal’s six goals in the tie.
Ramsey also notched away at AC Milan in the last round and is becoming the talisman of this Arsenal side in the Europa League.
It didn’t all go Ramsey’s way against CSKA on Thursday though as he was stretchered off at the end of the first half.
Arsenal played a few minutes with 10 men and Ramsey revealed after the game that he needed his calf stapled up at half-time.
