Raheem Sterling Manchester City

Social media reacts to astonishing first half of Man City vs Spurs

Nobody saw this coming!

In what was the most incredible first half of football this season, Manchester City and Tottenham scored five goals between them in 21 minutes.

It was always expected to be an incredible game at the Etihad this evening.

Tottenham had a 1-0 aggregate lead after the first leg in London and Pep Guardiola’s side had to score to get back into the tie.

With the attacking talent City have, it was always going to be difficult for Spurs to stand strong.

However, no one quite expected what would follow that first leg when the two met again on Wednesday evening.

Heung-min Son

Rolling with the punches

It all started when Raheem Sterling scored the first goal of the game in the 4th minute of the game.

After some brilliant work from Kevin De Bruyne, Sterling curled a brilliant shot into the bottom corner making it 1-1 on aggregate.

Then Tottenham came roaring back.

Son Heung-Min scored just three minutes after, meaning City needed two to go through due to the away goals rule.

It then turned into the impossible task for City when Son Heung-Min scored again just three minutes after his first with a curling effort into the corner of the net.

Just when City looked down and out, they turned on the style.

Only a minute after Son’s second, Bernardo Silva scored for Man City.

They didn’t stop there, though, with Raheem Sterling scoring his second of the game 10 minutes after.

That left the aggregate scoreline at 3-3 (3-2 City on the night), with both sides taking a breather until half-time.

Safe to say, we all need a breather after that half judging by social media.

Social media reacts

It would be a huge understatement to claim social media was absolutely stunned by the clash in Manchester.
