Gary Neville has claimed Harry Kane is just as good as Lionel Messi and Neymar – and that he is one of the best forwards in the world – if not the best.
The player impressed against Manchester United, and there seems to be no goal he cannot score, no team he cannot be world class against – and no personal record he can’t break.
Neville said on Sky Sports’ The Debate show: “He reminded of a cross between Alan [Shearer] and Didier [Drogba] against United.
“Honestly it was a brilliant performance from a centre forward.
“I’d go as far to say that I think he’s the best centre forward in Europe.
“Obviously you’ve got the likes of Suarez, Messi and Neymar who play up top that are absolutely incredible.
“He’s not an off the shelf centre forward or a typical one that plays in between the centre backs.
“I think he’s getting as close to perfect as he can be.
“I don’t think Harry Kane will ever dip in his career.”
As with all the best players in the world, they want to be playing in the biggest of games and winning the biggest trophies, and the question of if Spurs can do that for Kane still lingers on.
The game against Manchester United showed how good they can be, but that has to happen week in, week out, and so far this season, the club do not look as though they’ve gone forward in terms of their title hopes – and may even miss out on the top four.
Their Champions League form however has been brilliant, and it may well be the case they go further in that competition and make their mark that way – although that will only serve to put Kane on the radar of the biggest and best clubs once again.
