Sky Sports analytics machine predicts Premier League top six

Look away now Arsenal fans

Sky Sports have used an analytical computer generator (SAM) to predict the top six teams in the Premier League come the end of the season, and it does not make good reading for Arsenal fans.

The club are set to miss out on their beloved fourth place if the computer ends up being accurate – and finish below arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur to boot.

One positive for Arsene Wenger is that the club will apparently finish above Manchester United and Jose Mourinho, but that won’t console the fans much.

The ‘final table’ will look like this:

Chelsea – 85

Tottenham Hotspur – 78

Liverpool – 77

Manchester City – 77

Arsenal – 76

Manchester United – 70

Great news for Chelsea fans

The Blues sit at the top of the Premier League currently, and looking at the Sky Sports predictor, will finish the season in first place, grabbing the title by seven points.

Of course, the table isn’t taking into consideration runs of form, or injuries and suspensions, and looking at the run Jose Mourinho’s men are on at the minute, you’d have to say the club might actually be a few people’s pick to finish in the top four.

There’s also the trophy factor – if teams are in the latter stages of competitions, they may rest players in the Premier League and focus on the League Cup, the FA Cup or the Europa and Champions League.
