Mignolet’s time at Anfield
Simon Mignolet joined Liverpool in 2013, moving from Sunderland.
Throughout much of his stint at Anfield, Mignolet was Liverpool’s number one goalkeeper.
During his first campaign with Liverpool, the Belgian featured in 40 games across all competitions, including all 38 Premier League fixtures.
The 2017/18 season, though, would see Mignolet lose some of his game time to Loris Karius. Nevertheless, he still managed to play 22 times that season.
However, since Liverpool signed Allison from AS Roma, Mignolet has barely featured for the Reds.
This past season saw the 31-year-old play just twice, once in the League Cup and once in the FA Cup.
Mignolet future update
After struggling for game time throughout 2018/19, Mignolet has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace.
Given the fact that Allison had a superb debut season on Merseyside, it is hard to envision Mignolet getting much more game time in the forthcoming season.
As a result, he could well depart this summer, and that is a route that his agent is pushing for.
When speaking recently about Mignolet’s future, his agent claimed that it is important for the Belgian to be playing, and that his goal is to ‘make him leave’:
“The goalkeeper game of musical chairs hasn’t started yet.
“It’s important for Simon to play somewhere, and our goal is still to make him leave.
“He’s still got a lot to offer, and if we have an offer, we’re counting on Liverpool making an effort.” As quoted by the Mirror.
