Shocker for Watford: Chelsea old boy Nathaniel Chalobah suffers a freak injury

Watford’s amazing start to the Premier League

After six rounds of the new Premier League, there’s no doubt who the surprise package are: Watford.

The Hornets have already bagged 11 points, with three wins and two draws in their opening six fixtures.

Manager Marco Silva was often lauded last season with Hull for his incredible home record stats which stretched back several years.

But, so far in 2017-18, Silva has turned Watford into a formidable force on the road. Indeed, Watford have won their first three away games of the season at Bournemouth, Southampton and Swansea.

Next weekend Watford to West Brom in the Premier League.

Nathaniel Chalobah’s freak injury

Watford won 2-1 at Swansea last weekend with former Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah.

Some have argued that Chalobah’s five million pound move from Chelsea was the best pound-for-pound signing in the 2017 summer transfer window.

But it’s now highly likely that Watford fans will have to wait a while before they next see Chalobah in action.

It’s been confirmed that the 22-year-old, who was recently called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad, has suffered a freak accident in training. The Daily Mail report:

Nathaniel Chalobah’s England breakthrough will be put on hold after the Watford midfielder suffered a freak knee injury in training.

Watford are refusing to put a timescale on the injury but are sending him for another scan this week after he missed Saturday’s 2-1 win at Swansea.

No team-mate was understood to be involved when he suffered the injury at their London Colney base.

Last season Chalobah only managed to play 159 minutes in Chelsea’s title winning campaign in the Premier League.

Chalobah has previously played for the Hornets, when he was at the club on loan in 2021-13. That season Watford lost in the Championship play-off final to Crystal Palace.
