Olivier Giroud injured vs West Ham
Last week Arsenal beat West Ham 1-0 in the quarterfinal of the Carabao Cup.
Danny Welbeck was the match winners for the Gunners against the Irons.
But there was a price for Arsenal’s victory as striker Olivier Giroud picked up an injury.
With 18 minutes remaining against the Hammers, Olivier Giroud pulled up with a hamstring injury.
Giroud might not be first choice at Arsenal, but he is a key first team player and even when he doesn’t start, often comes in for some minutes in the biggest of games.
Shocker for Arsenal: Giroud out for months
On Sunday L’Equipe have revealed the bad news regarding Giroud’s injury timetable.
Most Arsenal fans would have been prepared for Giroud to miss the busy Christmas schedule after pulling up against West Ham.
But L’Equipe have now claimed that Giroud is likely to be out of action until February.
Bad news for Everton too?
Giroud’s injury will also lead many to doubt whether the French international will leave the Emirates in the January winter.
In the past few weeks Giroud has talked up the possibility of leaving Arsenal.
With the 2018 World Cup just around the corner, the striker will clearly feel he needs regular football to force his way into Didier Deschamps’ side.
Everton were linked with a swoop for Giroud in the summer. And that transfer to Goodison Park has also been talked up in the final weeks of the year.
But after reports of Giroud’s latest hamstring tear, any Everton deal must surely be remote in the next few weeks.
Crystal Palace vs Arsenal
After their 3-3 draw with Liverpool on Friday night, Arsene Wenger takes his side to Crystal Palace on Thursday.
The Eagles drew 1-1 at Swansea on Saturday. Palace extended their unbeaten Premier League run to eight games – a new club record.
