Mustafi set to leave Arsenal this summer
Shkodran Mustafi’s father has admitted that the German is looking to leave Arsenal before the summer transfer window closes.
The central defender is no longer a key player in Unai Emery’s side, despite playing a decent amount of games last season.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos is a mainstay in the Arsenal team these days, with David Luiz having come in over the summer to partner him.
That leaves Mustafi out of the team and searching for game-time.
This week, Unai Emery even admitted that the German defender needed a new challenge.
Speaking about Mustafi and teammate Mohamed Elneny, Emery claimed that both needed to join a team ‘where they can be protagonists’.
“I think it’s positive for them to leave and to sign for another team where they can be protagonists, they can be happy and they can continue in their careers as very big players,” Emery explained.
Now, it looks like Mustafi’s father agrees.
“However the best for both sides is probably to work on a transfer”
Speaking on the back of Emery’s comments, Kujtim Mustafi explained that the best solution is for the player to leave Arsenal.
However, he did admit that the pair can ‘imagine to stay in London’.
“Shkodran had a great time with Arsenal. We still have a contract for two years and can imagine to stay in London,” he explained, as quoted by the Mirror.
“However the best for both sides is probably to work on a transfer. But for that it also needs market-driven transfer-fees.”
