“I believe that some coaches need that with their teams. I think that this grabs the attention of some coaches and I think it is an important point for me.”
Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred claims that talks over a transfer to Manchester United are at an “advanced stage” although his focus, for now, remains on the World Cup this summer.
The Red Devils are keen on securing a deal for the Brazilian and are hopeful of successfully negotiating a transfer fee with the Ukrainian club.
Fred has revealed that talks over a transfer have been ongoing since January with both Manchester clubs, although United have taken the lead by submitting a bid.
The 25-year-old will be in London this week working at Tottenham Hotspur training complex ahead of this Sunday’s friendly against Croatia.
Old Trafford officials are now working to agree a fee with Shakhtar with the possibility of conducting a medical next week with the hope of completing the deal before the World Cup.
The Brazilian has revealed that talks with United are at an advanced stage and that he is honoured to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Fred told ESPN:
“Talks have been at an advanced stage since January if I am not mistaken.
“There was a possible transfer to City. Shortly after, both clubs, City and United talked with Shakhtar and with my agents about a possible transfer.
“And if I am not mistaken, there was news of a strong bid by United. But I am focused solely on the World Cup.
“My agents are taking care of this, led by Gilberto Silva. He’s a very calm guy, one that I give all the freedom, as he is someone I deeply trust.
“It’s an honour to be on the radar of great European coaches.
“They are two great coaches from Manchester, as well as our national head coach. But I believe I have a versatility on the pitch and I’m a multi-skilled player, being able to play in both midfield positions.
