Sergio Reguilon among Tottenham trio believed to have broken Covid-19 rules on Christmas Day

Covid-19 on the rise in Premier League

The winter months have seen Covid-19 back on the rise in the UK, with further areas placed under Tier 4 restrictions earlier this week.

In turn, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to see numbers creeping up in the footballing world.

Recent days have seen Manchester City’s clash with Everton called off, and Fulham vs Tottenham rescheduled.

Elsewhere, Ralph Hasenhuttl missed Southampton’s last outing after a member of his household contracted Covid-19, whilst Fulham boss Scott Parker was forced to sit out his side’s Boxing Day fixture for the same reason.

It was also confirmed on Tuesday that the Premier League had recorded its highest-ever infection figure – 18 – during the latest round of testing:

Tottenham stars break Covid-19 rules

As such, Jose Mourinho and co. were no doubt left altogether disappointed to hear of a number of Tottenham’s stars reportedly mixing on Christmas Day.

The government rules in England on Christmas Day allowed only two households to meet in Tiers 1-3 – whilst mixing of separate households was prohibited in Tier 4.

However, as reported by the Daily Mail on Saturday, Sergio Reguilon, Erik Lamela, Giovani Lo Celso and Manuel Lanzini all appear to have mixed on Xmas day, with the image below showcasing a further 11 individuals accompanying the players:

The photo is believed to have been posted by one of the footballers’ friends on Instagram.

And, though the location isn’t revealed, it appears safe to assume, given the fact that the group consists of Spurs and West Ham stars, that it was taken in London, a tier-4 area.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have since made their feelings clear regarding the situation:
