Sergio Aguero & Chelsea
The Times on Tuesday have a short update on Chelsea’s attempts to sign Man City striker Sergio Aguero.
On Sunday, a reporter for Spanish paper AS courted plenty of attention on social media as he announced that not only are Chelsea trying to sign Sergio Aguero, but Pep Guardiola has reportedly given his blessing for the deal to happen.
Sky Sports caught up with the news on Monday, revealing that Chelsea have a “serious and strong interest” in Argentine star Kun.
Blues are stonewalled
But on Tuesday, hopes that Aguero will play his football at Stamford Bridge have receded.
Countering earlier suggestions that Guardiola has no problem letting the Argentine striker leave the Etihad Stadium, the broadsheet tells their readers:
The club are adamant that Sergio Agüero will not be sold despite interest in the striker from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. City sources insist that Guardiola is keen to have Agüero and Alexis Sanchez, the Arsenal forward, in his squad next season.
That Man City want the keep Kun as well as adding Arsenal’s Sanchez is big news, but how can Pep find room in his XI for all the talent he has at his disposal?
Aguero already has Gabriel Jesus breathing down his neck, while there’s Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, Bernando Silva, David Silva, Raheem Sterling, Yaya Toure, Fernando and Fernandinho all fighting for starting spots.
