Ronald Koeman’s men are set to return to La Liga action on Sunday, with a trip to the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero.

The Blaugrana will of course head into proceedings as overwhelming favourites to bag all 3 points, despite an altogether hit and miss stretch over the course of the last week.

First, a thrilling Spanish Super Cup finale meeting with Athletic Bilbao saw Barca surrender a 2-1 advantage at the last, before falling to an eventual 3-2 defeat in extra time.

The clash also saw Lionel Messi sent for an early bath for the first time in his career with the Catalans.

Koeman’s troops, though, to their credit, subsequently bounced back during the week, booking their spot in the last-16 of the Copa del Rey with a 2-0 win over a game Cornella side.

Dest returns

As such, Barcelona will no doubt be eager to make it two straight wins in a little less than 24 hours’ time.

Atletico Madrid of course remain the runaway leaders at the La Liga summit, but a 3-point haul versus Elche could see the Blaugrana climb as high as 2nd in the Spanish top-flight.

And, ahead of their trip to Alicante, Koeman and co. have today been handed a boost.

In a post across the club’s social media platforms, Barca confirmed that Sergino Dest, who was forced off during last weekend’s Super Cup clash, has returned to the fray:
