Man United & Serge Aurier

Serge Aurier’s Man United move is on

Man United & Serge Aurier

For the second time in the space of a week, Man United fans have been told that PSG defender Serge Aurier seems to be on his way to Old Trafford.

The rumour first surfaced in French paper L’Equipe last Sunday, as the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international seems destined to leave PSG this summer.

Indeed, Aurier was omitted rom the club’s pre-season tour in America, while PSG also left Hatem Ben Arfa and Grzegorz Krychowiak out of their US squad.

Troubled past

Aurier has a reputation in football for being something of a nutcase.

In recent seasons, the PSG bad boy has performed a ‘slit the throat’ gesture after an Ivory Coast goal, he was sentenced to two months in prison for assaulting a police officer, while he’s also previously been banned from travelling to the UK.

The Ivory Coast full back also made headlines in 2015 when he took part in a Periscope video taking the piss out of his then coach Laurent Blanc and team mates such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Next move

It’s now looking increasingly like Aurier will leave Paris this summer.

Aside from all the above, the defender has seen Dani Alves sign for the club last week, which suggests Aurier won’t be playing much for PSG next season.

The Independent have now told their readers the following:

Manchester United have turned their attention to Paris Saint-Germain’s Serge Aurier in their search for a right-back, due to the difficulty of getting a deal done for Monaco’s Fabinho.

Any purchase would not necessarily be dependent on PSG buying Fabinho, since they don’t primarily see him as a right-back.

The Ivorian international would also be cheaper than Fabinho and could feasibly be signed for £25m.

It’s also worth noting that Mateo Darmian has been tipped with a summer exit from United. Aurier’s arrival would seemingly only speed up the Italian’s exit.
