Senegal vs Tunisia live streaming: Match preview

Then there were four.

Senegal and Tunisia came into this tournament as the two highest ranked African sides but only one will be in Friday’s Final.

Senegal narrowly beat Uganda 1-0 in their round of 16 tie so faced Benin in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

The Lions of Téranga were the better side throughout but were struggling to create any clear openings.

That was until the 70th minute.

Idrissa Gana Gueye played a smart one-two with Sadio Mané before the Everton man cooly finished to put his team ahead.

Mané had two excellent chances late on which he could not take but it mattered not.

Senegal are through to the last four for only the fifth time.

Their record so far is they have finished fourth on three occasions and were loosing finalists in 2002.

Will Aliou Cissé become the first manager to lead his country to AFCON glory?

As for Tunisia, they haven’t exactly been scintillating at this tournament but they’re still in it.

Remarkably, despite drawing all three games, the Eagles of Carthage finished second in Group E.

In the round of 16, Rami Bedoui’s stoppage time own goal meant their tie with Ghana went into a penalty shootout.

Goalkeeper Farouk Ben Mustapha made a crucial save before Ferjani Sassi slotted home the decisive spot-kick to send his team through.

In the quarter-finals on Thursday, they took on the tournament’s surprise package, debutants Madagascar.

It’s fair to say, there were not many chances in the first half but, just seven minutes into the second, Sassi’s shot trickled in after a wicked deflection.

1-0 Tunisia.

Just a matter of moments later it was two; Youssef Msakni latching onto a lose ball and firing in.

Madagascar could not get themselves back into the tie and, in the dying embers of the game, Naïm Sliti made sure of the win with his tenth international goal.

Tunisia are into the last four for the seventh time.

They have finished fourth twice, third once, runners-up twice but, the last time they got here, in 2004 they won their one and only AFCON title.

Alain Giresse’s side have not been amazing to watch in this tournament but they’re in with a great chance.

Who will book their place in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Final?
