Senegal vs Benin live streaming: Match preview

A memorable night for Benin.

On Friday, they took on Morocco in their round of 16 tie with the North African side the overwhelming favourites.

In the first half, the match was essentially attack against defence but the Squirrels held out and it was 0-0 at the break.

Then, seven minutes into the second half, Moïse Adilehou volley home Cebio Soukou’s corner.

Completely against the run of play, Benin had the lead.

However, with just 14 minutes to go, Olivier Verdon’s catastrophic error gifted the Morocco the ball and En-Nesyri punished them.

1-1.

Then, in the very last minute of addition time, captain Stéphane Sessègnon brought down Achraf in the box.

Penalty Morocco.

But, Ziyech’s penalty hit the post and Benin survived.

In extra time, no one could find a goal and it went to a penalty shootout.

Both sides scored their first penalties with Verdon converting for Benin.

Then, Boufal of Morocco skied his effort way over the bar.

Advantage Benin.

David Djigla made it 2-1 before Saturnin Allagbé made a stunning save to deny En-Nesyri.

Tidjani Anaane and Mama Séïbou then both scored to send Benin through.

Amazingly, they have never won any of their 13 matches at AFCONs and yet, they’re through to the quarter-finals.

Can they pull off another shock?

Senegal’s last 16 match-up was far less dramatic.

Sadio Mané opened the scoring with a cool finish after just 15 minutes and that was enough to see off a very toothless Uganda.

Les Lions de la Téranga have played well in patches this tournament but are yet to hit top gear.

Nevertheless, their quality should see them easily past Benin.
