The two big hitters in Group C meet in Cairo, looking to set down a marker.

Senegal kicked off their campaign against Tanzania.

Les Lions de la Téranga completely dominated in the first half with M’Baye Niang missing two great chances and Ismaïla Sarr also forcing the goalkeeper into a great save.

They finally took the lead after 29 minutes when Keita Baldé Diao’s scuffed shot snuck in at the near post.

In the second half, their domination continued with Moussa Wagué going close with a header.

From the resulting corner, the ball came out to Krépin Diatta who struck his volley as sweet as you like into the top corner.

Not a bad way to mark your international debut.

It finished 2-0; Senegal had 24 shots with ten on target to Tanzania’s three shots and none on target.

There is no doubt that this’ll be a much tougher game.

Algeria also won 2-0 on Sunday; the Green seeing of Kenya.

They were given the chance to take the lead just after the half hour mark when Youcef Atal was fouled in the box.

Baghdad Bounedjah cooly slotted in his 12th international goal.

Just eight minutes later, Ismaël Bennacer’s pull back found Riyad Mahrez who’s shot deflected into the back of the net for 2-0.

Mahrez has been directly involved in five of Algeria’s last eight goals at AFCONs with three goals and two assists.

2-0 it finished; an easy win for Djamel Belmadi’s men.

These two both certainly have very talented squads and both are expected to go far in this tournament.

Their credentials will be tested by each other in what will be a tight game.

However, Senegal’s side is slightly more balance and they should come out on top here, providing their more clinical then they were at the weekend.
