Zlatan Ibrahimovic & Man United
Romelu Lukaku may soon have a battle on his hands at Man United.
According to an amazing update in the Sun on Sunday, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is poised to return to training in the next 31 days.
Zlatan starred for the Red Devils last season. The Swede scored over 20 goals for United as Jose Mourinho won the League Cup and Europa League in his first season at Old Trafford.
A few weeks ago, Zlatan confirmed that he’s agreed a new deal to stay at Man United this season too.
The Swedish superstar has agreed a new one year deal, although he’s still not ready to return to action quite yet.
Ibra’s 2016-17 campaign was cut short after he suffered ligament damage against Anderlecht.
He’s been sidelined ever since, although Zlatan seems to be defying the odds with regards to his comeback timetable.
When the injury first happened, many thought Zlatan would be out of action until after the 2018 New Year.
But that timetable has been revised, as the Swede could be back on the pitch much sooner.
Back in October & Champions League
The Sun, probably too optimistically, have reported the following on Zlatan’s injury timetable:
Swedish ace has recovered so quickly from knee ligament op that he could make Champions League group games.
Club insiders reckon his physical condition is about 80 per cent of his maximum.
And there is a growing belief that — barring any setbacks — he will be able to resume physical contact work over the next couple of weeks.
Could the Champions League actually be a good opportunity for Ibra to return to action?
The way things are going for Man United in the UCL, they’ll book their qualification to the last 16 without any problems.
Man United have beaten Basel and CSKA Moscow with ease in their opening two fixtures.
Next up are Benfica. But they should pose little threat to Jose Mourinho, as they’ve lost their first two games.
