A way back
After being sacked from the England job in disgrace and being known for having a pint of wine, Sam Allardyce probably thought he’d be facing a long wait before getting a call to manage a top side again.
Now while Crystal Palace might not be at the very top of the tree, they’re a Premier League club (for now at least) and are looking for a new manager after sacking Alan Pardew.
Allardyce was the name at the top of their list, and given the dismal results Palace have put together since the start of the season, you can’t blame the board for wanting a manager who will keep them in the top flight.
According to Sky Sports News, Allardyce has arrived at the training ground to open talks with the club about taking the role of manager – with some people claiming he will be appointed as soon as St Stephens Day should the talks go well.
For his part, you’d assume Allardyce would be keen to take the job and try to restore his reputation after the England disaster – and for Palace, they’re in desperate need of a manager, with very few around at the minute.
