Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool goal vs Fulham should not have stood

The goal was illegal

Fulham were annoyed after losing to Liverpool.

Not only did they have issues with their goal being ruled out – and Mo Salah then going on to score straight after, it seems Salah’s goal itself has caused even more controversy.

That’s because when Alisson took the Liverpool free-kick, the ball was actually moving.

The ball moving of course means the goal should not have stood.

Former Premier League official Mark Clattenburg made that very clear.

The Daily Mail report Clattenburg said: “A part of the body that can score a goal only needs to be in an offside position. In this case, Aleksandar Mitrovic is marginally off.

“His side and shoulder are behind the last defender. So that was the right call from the assistant.

“However, when Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson takes the free-kick, the ball is moving and therefore it is illegal.”

Liverpool vs Man City

Chelsea seem to be the side who have blinked first in the title race.

Draws to West Ham and now Everton are not ideal for Maurizio Sarri’s men.

However, all three sides are unbeaten in the league so far this season.

Chelsea are the only side who are unbeaten in Europe’s top five leagues – in all competitions.

The title race looks like it’s set to be one of the best in years.

For Chelsea or Liverpool to beat City to the title, they will have to be nothing short of perfect.

The level Pep Guardiola’s side are playing at is incredible.

Their 44 passes leading up to Ikay Gundogan’s goal against United was nothing short of amazing.
