Both Mo Salah and Kevin De Bruyne have one thing in common ahead of their game tonight in the Champions League for their respective sides Liverpool and Manchester City.
That’s according to Tony Evans, who thinks that the duo will both smell blood and be able to attack the defences of their opponents tonight.
In his column for Standard Sport, Tony Evans wrote:
Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne – both of whom Jose Mourinho deemed not good enough for Chelsea – are the frontrunners for the Footballer of the Year award.
Neither side is equipped to shut down a game and squeeze the life out of the opposition. Expect goals – and plenty of them – and mistakes. Defending is likely to be scatterbrained, but entertainment is almost guaranteed.
The likeliest men to emerge as heroes are Salah and De Brunye. In the next week, both have a chance to elevate a standout season to the realms of greatness.
The game tonight is huge for both sides and will be able to secure them passage to the next round of the Champions League if they impress enough – or at least give them a fighting chance come the second leg.
However, they will also have to get through the weekend’s games as well, where Liverpool will face Everton in a derby and will have plenty of pride at stake, and Manchester City can sew up the title against Manchester United, something the fans would love to see happen, and certainly something that would wipe the smile off the face of Jose Mourinho – a thing Pep Guardiola would love to do.
