Sadio Mane’s ‘Man City’ taunt quotes
The Sun published a set of supposed Sadio Mane quotes on Wednesday which went viral.
Liverpool are four points clear of Man City in the Premier League.
According to the published quotes, Mane was sure Liverpool would beat Man City in the title race:
This is not a team of chokers. We will be champions. I am sure we will be champions of England.
When I wake up, I don’t go to the training ground thinking we will not win.
We are determined to show we are the best team in the league.
We have a fantastic team — Man City are not better than we are.
Where did the Sun get the Sadio Mane quote from?
The Sun claimed that Sadio Mane made his statements at the recent African Player of the Year awards in Senegal.
Interestingly the Sun don’t include a link to their source.
Could it be that it’s because the quotes are fake?

According to the Liverpool Echo’s James Pearce, Sadio Mane denies he ever made those statements:
Liverpool winger Sadio Mane is fuming over comments attributed to him regarding the Premier League title race.
Mane is adamant that he said no such thing and that the quotes aren’t genuine.

Liverpool Football Club have no relationship with the Sun following the tabloid’s reporting of the Hillsborough disaster.
Many Liverpool fans will be enraged by the Sun’s fake quotes, which seem aimed at affecting their title challenge.
The s*n newspaper are now covertly trying to derail Liverpool's season by making up quotes from Sadio Mané, trying to make him sound arrogant and overconfident. Opposition players and fans might not be as smart and buy in to their shit. Feet are firmly on the ground. #LFC
