Liverpool vs Norwich
The 2019-20 Premier League season opens at Anfield on August 9th.
On that Friday night, Liverpool take on Premier League new-boys Norwich City.
Norwich are back in the top-flight after the Canaries won the Championship last term.
As for Liverpool, they are looking to go one-better in the league this season, as Jurgen Klopp aims to win the title.
Liverpool last won the league 31-years ago.
Sadio Mane set to miss Norwich
Liverpool are set to start their Premier League season without Sadio Mane.
Mane, who was last season’s joint-Premier League top goalscorer with 22 goals, is likely to miss the Norwich match.
That’s after Senegal booked their spot in the African Cup of Nations final against Algeria.
On Sunday night, Senegal beat Tunisia 1-0 in the semi-finals.
The AFCON final is scheduled for July 19th, which is three weeks before the start of the Premier League season.
When will Mane return for Liverpool?
As confirmed in the Mirror on Monday, Mane is set for a break after the AFCON final:
With Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp having given all his players three weeks off following their international exertions this summer, it looks like that will rule Mane out of the clash against promoted Norwich.
To be clear, it’s not yet confirmed that Mane will miss the Norwich game.
Some are speculating that Mane could cut short his summer break to be available for the opening game of the season.
Sadio Mane’s AFCON campaign will finish next Friday, exactly three weeks before Liverpool’s opener vs Norwich. Remains to be seen when he’ll return to Liverpool for pre-season. Think he had at least a weeks holiday after the CL final.

Man City & Riyad Mahrez
One also has to assume that Man City may be without Riyad Mahrez at the start of the season.
Mahrez scored an amazing 94th-minute match-winning free-kick against Nigeria to sent Algeria into the AFCON final.
Man City kick off the defence of their Premier League crown away at West Ham on August 10th.
