Former Manchester United player Ryan Giggs has revealed the best moment he’s ever had on a football field – which was also the only time he cried as a player in public view after a game as well.
It won’t come as much of a shock that the moment was at the Camp Nou – when Man United of course pulled off the impossible.
“The best moment I’ve ever had on a football pitch was when that final whistle went at the Nou Camp and I actually did cry,” he explained in a Q&A session.
“It’s the only time I have cried on a football pitch because the emotions just took over.”
“No one particular game comes to my mind, it was just the big wins, the Champions League wins, where we came in and were all celebrating, or a couple of last-minute goals to win the game,” he added.
“That was when the changing room was really buzzing, that was when everyone was enjoying it.
“And then the flipside, the ones when you got a dressing down, got a telling off from the manager, they’re the ones that really stick in my mind a lot more than actually celebrating.
“But we had some great times, because you do when you win a big game. You can’t wait to get back in the dressing room and celebrate with the lads.”
Now, United may be without the likes of Ryan Giggs and Fergie, but they are looking at a new era, and with the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku – not to mention Jose Mourinho manager at the minute, they’re in better shape than they have been for several seasons.
That being said, they’re also eight points off Manchester City at the top of the table, who look like they’re set to run away with the title unless someone stops them.
