Man United legend Ryan Giggs calls for Jack Wilshere to play for England

England 0 – Brazil 0

England pulled off a fine draw on Tuesday night against one of the best teams in the world.

It marked a decent couple of days for England boss Gareth Southgate.

The Three Lions managed to draw 0-0 against both Germany and Brazil with plenty of big players missing.

One player that was not missing due to injury, was Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

After a loan spell at Bournemouth last season, Wilshere has returned from injury and played with plenty of promise in the Arsenal midfield.

Albeit, more in Europa League and Carabao Cup matches.

Ryan Giggs calls for Jack Wilshere to play for England

In the build-up to the two England friendlies, Gareth Southgate explained that he could not pick Jack Wilshere, since he was not regularly playing for Arsenal.

The central two in midfield for England on Tuesday against Brazil was Eric Dier and Jake Livermore.

Burnley’s Jack Cork was called up by England when a number of midfield options pulled out and this really looks like a problem for Gareth Southgate.

Giggs: “The best midfielder who keeps the ball is Wilshere”

After the England game, Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs called for Wilshere to play at international level.

Giggs: “To compete at the top you have to keep the ball and probably the best (England) midfielder who keeps the ball is Wilshere”.

With no international games until March and with England safe and secured in Russia next summer, Wilshere has an incredible opportunity now.

It will be fascinating to see if Wilshere can grab the bull by the horns. And, stay fit. Were Wilshere to play regularly for Arsenal he could comfortably bag himself a World Cup spot.
