Vicente Guaita

Roy Hodgson gives Vicente Guaita injury update before Liverpool

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace travel to Liverpool on Saturday for perhaps their toughest test of the season.

After losing 2-1 vs Watford this past weekend, Palace have now amassed just 22 points from 22 league games.

As a result, the Eagles are now just four points above the drop zone and in danger of being sucked into a relegation battle.

It is also unlikely that Palace will come away with anything over than a loss on Saturday as Liverpool are unbeaten at Anfield this season in the league.

Liverpool sit top of the Premier League with 57 points from 22 games, having lost just once against Manchester City.

Vicente Guaita injury update

It is also very likely Palace will be without their current first-choice keeper for the Liverpool clash.

Vicente Guaita was taken off vs Watford on Saturday with an injury.

Guaita has started Palace’s last six league games and has been in solid form.

Roy Hodgson has since provided an update on Guaita’s injury and it is not looking too good:

“We don’t know yet [how bad it is] but it’s an injury to his calf which will have to be assessed. He couldn’t continue.

“How bad? We probably won’t know until he’s had a scan, but it was a definite muscle injury, it wasn’t cramp or a kick.”
