Ronaldo talks up Coutinho
Liverpool fans will be hissing at Brazilian legend Ronaldo after his latest comments on Onda Cero radio show ‘El Transistor’. Now working as a global ambassador for Real Madrid, he spoke in glowing terms about Philippe Coutinho. The praise came in response to him being asked which player he would like to see at the Bernabeu. He said: “I would like to see Coutinho at Real Madrid, the Liverpool player.”
The silky-skilled Brazilian is one of the best players at Anfield right now. He’s been a star for the Reds since joining them in a transfer from Inter Milan in January 2013. Things didn’t work out for the little Brazilian in Italy. He couldn’t settle at Inter after they snapped him up as a Vasco da Gama prodigy.
Erratic form saw him earn respite with a good loan spell at Espanyol.
He’s scored 32 goals in 153 appearances for Liverpool and boasts an improved goal tally season-upon-season. With four goals in his first seven appearances this season, he’s on course for his best ever goals total. Only a wonder save from David De Gea stopped him from scoring in Monday night’s goalless draw at home to Manchester United. Liverpool look like they could be capable of doing something special this season. But that could be a double-edged sword if it means that vultures start circling around the likes of Coutinho.
