David Luiz dropped v Man United
It’s been a hectic few days at Chelsea.
On Sunday, Chelsea picked up three valuable points in the Premier League after they beat Man United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Alvaro Morata was the Blues hero with a second half header.
One of the big stories from the match concerned Brazilian star David Luiz. Luiz was dropped from the Man United game amid reports of a bust up with manager Antonio Conte.
Conte axed Luiz after the fell out following the 3-0 defeat at Roma in the Champions League.
Roman Abramovich reacted baldy
It’s widely reported that Chelsea’s billionaire Russian owner Roman Abramovich is a huge David Luiz fan.
That explains why Chelsea have twice signed Luiz in his career.
According to the Daily Mail on Wednesday, after seeing Luiz axed from the squad v Man United, Abramovich has acted. Readers are told:
Sportsmail understands Abramovich, who visited Chelsea’s Cobham HQ last week, has already made enquiries over the relationship between Conte and his squad.
But while Abramovich is not questioning Conte’s handling of the Luiz situation, the latest stand-off has raised concerns of a rift between the manager and his squad.
Who will replace Michael Emenalo?
Aside from the David Luiz situation, Chelsea are also reacting to Michael Enemalo leaving the club earlier this week.
According to the London Evening Standard, Chelsea may decide not to replace Enemalo at Stamford Bridge.
Director Marina Granovskaia, who is primarily in charge of transfer negotiations, is taking over his duties for the time being.
Granovskaia is currently deciding whether she wants to take over Enemalo’s position at the Blues.
If that proves to be true, then Marina Granovskaia will be even more important, and powerful, at Chelsea.
That’s likely to be bad news for manager Antonio Conte, who has been outspoken with criticisms about the club’s movement in last summer’s transfer market.
Many believe that Conte could leave Chelsea at the end of the season.
