Francesco Totti makes Serie A history
Days before his 40th birthday on September 27, Francesco Totti has achieved a new milestone.
The AS Roma god scored his 250th Serie A goal on Sunday as the Giallorossi struggled at Torino.
Totti’s incredible moment came in the 55th minute, when he beat on loan Man City goalie Joe Hart from the penalty spot.
Totti has become just the second player in the history of the Italian league to have scored 250 goals.
Silvio Piola tops the charts with 290 goals. He played in the 1930s and 40s for the likes of Lazio, Torino and Juventus, while also scoring an incredible 30 goals in 33 games for the Azzurri.
A breakdown of Totti’s goals
Totti has managed to score his 250 goals over 25 seasons.
He’s played a total of 605 matches, which rounds out at almost a goal every three Serie A games.
That’s simply unreal considering the longevity of Totti’s career.
