Former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has revealed his prediction for the Gunners’ Europa League final clash with Chelsea.

Both London clubs travel to Baku next week for a controversial European final.

The Dutch striker has given his verdict on which side he believes has the edge ahead of the clash.

Van Persie: “Personally, I think Arsenal have the edge”

Van Persie claims that Arsenal have the edge over the Blues going into the final in a week’s time.

Despite Maurizio Sarri’s side finishing third and above the Gunners in the Premier League title, the Dutchman believes his former side are better.

The north London club will be looking to reproduce their performance back at the start of the year, which saw them beat Chelsea 2-0.

In the first meeting between the two sides, however, it was Chelsea who won 3-2 at Stamford Bridge.

Both sides have experienced mixed seasons under their new managers, but the winner in Baku is sure to have their campaign dubbed a success.

Van Persie admitted:

“Personally, I think Arsenal have the edge. They’re a little bit better.

“But Chelsea have Eden Hazard and he is a very special player – at any time he can come up with something.”

Arsenal prepare for the Europa League final

Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not be travelling to the final due to political tensions between Azerbaijan and his native Armenia.

With the 30-year-old’s safety on the pitch uncertain, he has decided that he will not travel.
