The tide has turned over the past 10 years
Football pundit and ex-Premier League footballer Robbie Savage has claimed that Manchester City are ‘light years ahead’ of Manchester United in one regard.
Pep Guardiola’s City have become somewhat of a Premier League powerhouse since his arrival.
While they struggled in his first season at the club, his second was record-breaking.
Now, they are considered to be possibly the best side in the Premier League right now.
How the mighty have fallen
Pep Guardiola’s side will come up against the team which many consider to be up there with City this weekend, Liverpool.
Robbie Savage has been talking about that clash in his Daily Mirror column.
He’s also explained why City and ‘light years ahead’ of rivals Man United.
“Liverpool’s showdown with Manchester City at Anfield is not just a mouth-watering duel with potential consequences in the title race,” he explained.
“I wonder if Manchester United fans will be jealous of arch-rivals who are not just nine points ahead in the Premier League table already, but light years ahead in terms of the football they play.
“After another grim week at Old Trafford, if United were playing in your back garden this weekend while Liverpool and City were on the box, you would stay inside and draw the curtains.
“That’s how far off the pace United have slipped.”

Liverpool vs Man City: Who will come out on top?
Savage also explained why this should not be considered a title decider.
“Although there is no such thing as a title decider in October, you do feel it could be a pivotal weekend if City put clear daylight between them and Liverpool,” he continued.
“And United fans who can bear to watch must be wondering when they will next be involved in a title six-pointer.”
Safe to say, we will all be tuned in for Liverpool vs Manchester City.
