Rio Ferdinand makes Jadon Sancho prediction for debut Manchester United campaign

Jadon Sancho England

Sancho impresses for England

England and Ukraine went head-to-head in Rome on Saturday evening, for a place in the European Championship semi-finals.

The former would eventually come away with a deserved 4-0 win, thanks to a Harry Kane brace, as well as efforts from Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson.

Saturday’s game also saw Jadon Sancho handed his first start of the tournament for the Three Lions.

Sancho did not manage to score or assist, but his ability to run at and take on opposing defenders proved a real highlight.

Ferdinand on Jadon Sancho

On the back of Saturday’s game, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing Sancho’s talents.

The winger is, of course, set to link up with Ferdinand’s former club, Manchester United, upon the conclusion of England’s Euro 2020 campaign.

And the ex-defender, in turn, has made a prediction for Sancho’s debut season at Old Trafford, backing the Englishman to ‘have people off their seats’:

“I’ll tell you one thing, next season at Man United, he’ll have people off their seats.

“There’s moments in this game where he draws your breath and you think, ‘Oh, wow, that’s different’ — and he’s a fabulous talent, we know that, but mentally he’s very strong and he’s got a desire to be as good as he can be.

“Players that can up the potential of the game are different and they bring something different to your team in the way that he does.

“This is his first game, by the way, in the tournament, and he comes in and plays the way he did and creates moments, it shows you the talent that is there.”
