Ridiculous Cristiano Ronaldo vs Alexis Sanchez stat surfaces following Man United opener vs West Ham

A frankly remarkable statistic surrounding the early production of Cristiano Ronaldo since his return to Manchester United has come to the fore online this afternoon.

CR7 cancels out Benrahma

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are of course currently locked in action with West Ham.

The Red Devils headed into proceedings in search of a bounce-back result, after being dealt a shock defeat at the hands of Swiss giants Young Boys in their return to Champions League action during the week.

In turn, when it was West Ham – courtesy of Said Benrahma’s deflected effort from outside the area – who went on to open the scoring early on Sunday, the United faithful no doubt quickly feared the worst:

Cometh the hour, though, cometh the man…

Just when his side needed it the most, that man Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up once again, slotting home at the 2nd time of asking after seeing his initial effort from Bruno Fernandes’ cross kept out by Lukasz Fabianski:

Sanchez levelled

And, as outlined above, on the back of his latest strike back in the red of United, a head-turning statistic, comparing Ronaldo to one of the club’s former high-profile attacking additions, has since surfaced online.

The Portuguese veteran is of course the latest man to take on the no.7 jersey at Old Trafford. Before Ronaldo’s arrival, though, one of those to have most recently donned the iconic 7 shirt came in the form of Alexis Sanchez.

Former Arsenal man Sanchez endured something of a nightmare stint in Manchester, on his way to just 32 Premier League appearances.

And, despite having since played precisely one sixteenth the number of outings since his return to England, Ronaldo, this afternoon, matched the league goal tally notched by Sanchez in a United shirt:
