Money issues

As if things weren’t bad enough in the Arsenal camp at the minute, The Times thing there is yet another issue for Arsene Wenger to attempt to sort out.

Along with worrying about his own future – and why his side have decided to stop playing, the Arsenal manager also needs to worry about the players and their growing unease over the wage structure at the club.

That’s because some players are unhappy with the amount Mesut Ozil and new signings Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are getting – and think they should be earning the same sort of money – along with wondering just what the trio have even done to deserve those wages.

The majority of Arsenal fans seem to think the three players are better than the rest of the squad and certainly understand why they’re being paid so much in comparison to others – yet the growing frustration over certain stars not delivering is also evident.

Denial

Standard Sport report Danny Welbeck refuted the claims of any kind of split, and said that the club are united – and that they pay little attention to reports in the media trashing the club.

He said: “There’s no split in the camp. I didn’t even know about that story until now.

“I’ve not really seen much of the criticism. I can imagine it’s not been great because with the results and being at Arsenal, it’s not good enough.

“It’s not something where I’ve sat down and read through newspapers and stuff but we know we should be doing much better than where we are.

“But I think if we stand together as players, as a team with the manager and the staff and everyone involved around the club, then unity will make us stronger.”
