Erik ten Hag’s stance on Cristiano Ronaldo staying at Manchester United for next season has been revealed on Friday.
Ten Hag will take over at Old Trafford once the 2021/22 season is over. The Dutchman is facing a rather large rebuilding job with United having endured a pretty woeful season.
One of the areas ten Hag will need to address is the striker spot, with United set to have just Ronaldo and Anthony Martial as natural centre-forwards come the summer.
And with the latter expected to be moved on, that leaves CR7 as United’s lone hitman.
So, it is not too surprising to see The Telegraph report that Erik ten Hag wants Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Old Trafford, and believes it would be foolish not to retain the forward, whose goals have carried United amid an otherwise hugely disappointing campaign.

Of course, the Ronaldo detractors will highlight the fact that United’s misfortunes are in part down to the team being built around the ageing attacker, with Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood – before his arrest – all experiencing down campaigns in front of goal.
